In Kim (President) ikim@teamtcs.com In Kim watched as his parents and two younger brothers left for the United States. He had told his father that he would wait for another opportunity to go to the United States so he could finish studying Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering at his University in Incheon, Korea. In Kim remained in Korea to fulfill his mandatory military obligation with the Korean Air Force. At age 24, after two and a half years of military duty, In Kim was able to reunite with his family and move to the United States. In Kim’s limited ability to speak English made it difficult for him to find a job when he first arrived In the US, yet his work ethic and determination found him working 20 hours per day as a gas station attendant, a super market box-boy, a liquor store cashier or any other job he could find that would help him survive and contribute to his family. One of these jobs gave him insight into a darker side of working-class life. While working for an alarm installation company, In Kim witnessed his co-workers stealing items from the installation site. He could not believe the contradiction: his co-workers were stealing from customers who had hired the company to protect their valuables. In Kim reported the incident to management and was rewarded with a severance package and a request to not discuss it with the media. After leaving the alarm installation industry, In Kim found work as a copier technician but once again he saw employees taking advantage of their employers. In Kim attended work every day and offered his best effort, but many of his co-workers asked him to stop working so hard because he would raise the minimum standard requirements for everyone. In Kim could not believe how easily employees took advantage of customers and employers. He continued to work hard and learn about the copier service business, and in 1982 In Kim had learned enough to open his own copier service business. The number one goal of the copier dealship was to fulfill customer needs with professional and honest employees. Today, In Kim has joined Richard Gomez in creating Total Corporate Solutions, a company that embodies the same customer service ideals while providing a full spectrum of office services. In Kim’s negative work experiences proved to be positive, by leading In Kim to create companies that are founded on honest and sincere principles. |
